This traditional Victorian plant is a drought-tolerant annual. Now somewhat rare in gardens, it is grown for its dark-red leaves and gorgeous crimson flower plumes. Makes an excellent cut flower for arranging, although we grow it primarily for its exotic appeal.
Full sun to light shade.
Any soil type.
Seed sow in late-March to late May. Tassles produced from July until first frost.
